With the release of NVIDIA TITAN X GPU, it is now possible to run even bigger neural network simulations. Picture below shows SpikeFun v1.14 running a simulation of the visual system with approx. 1.1 million neurons. The selected focus is on a single visual cortex L4 Spiny Stellate cell spontaneously developing orientation sensitivity with the help of Spike Timing Dependent Plasticity (STDP). The entire simulation of 1.1 million neurons (1 million thalamocortical cells + ~100K retinal cells) is running on a single NVIDIA TITAN X GPU.
